Admissions Overview

Orange Charter is a tuition-free, public charter school serving students in grades K-8. Our tradition of excellence stretches back to 1997.

All families living within the State of North Carolina are eligible to apply. We do offer a limited school bus transportation zone.

As small class size/personalization of learning is one of the key ingredients to our success, our charter mandates that we limit our class rosters to 20 students.

The application window for the 2014-2015 school year begins on Friday, January 3rd and lasts until 3 p.m. on Thursday, February 13th. All applications received during this window will receive equal consideration.

Click here or visit the main office to receive a copy of the application form (Pre-Lottery Enrollment Packet) for 2014-2015.

We anticipate having roughly 20 seats to fill for both rising-Kindergartners and 6th graders, in addition to a handful of openings at other grade levels.

Though the siblings of current students are guaranteed spots for K & 6th (and prioritized for all other grade levels), parents still need to fill out an application/registration form upon their initial entry to school. Likewise, families of current students do not have to re-apply for the 2014-2015 school year, but are asked to submit an Intent to Return Form prior to Friday, January 31st to help inform our planning.

Our admissions lottery is scheduled for Friday, February 21st at 8:30 AM. Applicants can attend. All applicants will receive notification of their admissions status during the week of February 24th.

Those families not receiving offers of admission will automatically be placed on our waiting list for the duration of the 2014-2015 school year.

Outside of the lottery window, mid-year applications are also accepted for those select grade levels with openings.
