WOCS is our very-own student-lead radio program. This brand new station debuted at the start of the 2013-2014 school year, under the direction of Music Teacher William Dawson.
WOCS represents Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math (STEAM)-based education at its very finest. It incorporates reading, writing, presentation, technology, and musical skills. Not to mention, it is just plain fun.
LIVE broadcasts take place on select Fridays. Keep an eye out for the “on the air” sign outside of Mr. Dawson’s music classroom. Every elementary grade level has had the opportunity to participate so far this year.
Each segment features a VIP guest from the local community. Guests so far have included Hillsborough Mayor Tom Stevens, former Carolina Hurricanes player and current Youth and Amateur Hockey Coordinator Shane Willis, and children’s author and reigning Piedmont Laureate John Bemis, among many others.
We are planning a special Mother’s Day Program for May which will involve the entire Orange Charter student body.
